This one's for Billy - What God has spoken to me this week

For everyone who's been at Remain recently... you know how Billy is always asking us what God has spoken to us during the week? I now have some pretty good answers. I don't want to give the one away yet because then you would just hear it again on Thursday so I'll only give one right now...

Now if you would refer back to my second to last post... There is -was- a comment on there from an anonymous person. They said and I quote,

"Evil.... LOL!!!
Since when is the battle between good and evil itself evil? I mean really, the bible is the same concept, and almost all books like that have biblical inspiration. There are only 3 things that are evil: satan, demons, and sin... books are not on that list, and satan doesn't right books.

Don't call something evil until you can prove it."

Instantly becoming filled with knowledge from God here is my response:
HAHAHAHAHA You just set yourself into a trap. I can call Harry Potter evil because I CAN prove it!!! Allow me to expound...

1. The Bible is not based on the same concept of a battle between good versus evil. Yes, it may contain some of that but the main focus is to give us the weapons that we need to live in the footsteps of Christ. The Bible also instructs how to overcome evil with good. That's about as close as the so called 'battle' gets because there is no battle when the Lord is on your side - there is only victory... (Now changes blog banner to this statement and pats himself on the back...)

2. Harry Potter and like books do NOT have Biblical inspiration. This is BLASPHEMY! They are truly evil. They are completely filled with witchcraft and black magic. During the Salem Witch Trials, people were killed for even being accused of witchcraft.

3. There are way more things that are evil besides Satan, demons, and sin.
Romans 1:22 - 32
22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to like like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with on another.
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought no to be done.
29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips,
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;
31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

*Read that last verse again.

First I'm going to use a different word instead of evil. Let's try sinful. Same thing yes? This person claimed it themselves that sin is evil. So let's go on that...

I counted in 10 verses, 29 counts of sinful acts. So if sinful acts are the same as evil acts then 29 is greater than 3 yes? So there are more than three evil things that exist yes? But it is not limited to 29 sinful acts and sins. There are over 30,000 versus in the Bible. I'm sure that in countless other places it mentions other evil and sinful things. These can even include books and other worldly possessions.

4. Agreed that Satan does not write books directly but I guarantee that he influences those who are under his control - meaning those who serve him/the world rather than walk with Christ. Example - The summer of love. Thousands of teens going to a concert to smoke LSD and PCP and listen to music written and performed by musicians who were most likely high the whole time. Does that sound Godly? NO! What do you suppose would make someone smoke drugs and be into free love? You can say "the world" or "human nature" but guess what! The Bible clearly says in Romans 5:12 that we are born into sin and it is our human nature to sin. Sin is evil, yes? So that makes our Earthly actions evil since we are living in sin, yes? We need forgiveness from the Lord and a strong faith and relationship with Him so that we may overcome evil with GOOD! -that is the LORD!

I can call Harry Potter and other things in association with the devil 'evil' because I have proof and that is the Holy words of God!

Also quoted from my chatterbox at right:

": one last thing, remember that you will be judged as harshly as you judged others, so keep that in mind. P.S. read this from the bottom up, your posting is backwards :P
: so don't call something evil until you can prove that it really is, which as far as I can see, you CAN'T.... By saying the things that you and your friends have said, you are judging thousands of people, me included, and I don't much appreciate it."

Matthew 7:1-2
1 Do not judge or you too will be judged.
2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

We are not judging. We are stating truth about the culture in which we live. Our mission is to try and spread the Gospel and the love of Christ as far as we can. If speaking out against what is wrong is judging then I am guilty and I plead forgiveness. But I am not sorry for stepping on someone's toes trying to spread God's light into the dark crevices of lost souls.

The next time you decide to fight with a man of God, expect to lose because He is always victorious!

hey your post is encouraging... it's cool that your youth pastor asks you what you're hearing from God on a regular basis.. I remember the days when I went to REmain and Corwyn the old youth pastor and the leaders asked me the same question. At first I got annoyed but then I realized that it's a good question to ask.. It made me want to listen more for God to speak to me.. Your post is encouraging and one day maybe you'll be a blogger who shares Christ with other bloggers..
