New Experiences

Yesterday I was invited to go with my grandparents to Akron to visit my cousins. My grandpa preaches to a deaf church on Sunday mornings and my uncle is the senior pastor at Akron First Assembly of God. Brandon went to my uncle's church but I thought it would be quite an experience to visit a deaf church.

Everyone there was excited to meet me. I was happy that I knew a few words so I could sign to them. I said Hi to one lady there and I told her my name and she was so delighted that I could sign it so well.

After church we went back to my cousin's house and we hung out there for quite a while. I ended up telling my cousins about the call and showing them some videos on youtube. After that they showed me this awesome video on God tube. I think this would be AWESOME to do for talent show!

This video gives me chills and I was about to start crying at the end. I really want to do this human video!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I had a fantastic Christmas and I hope everyone else did too! I know I'm what... three days late? But that's ok because no one else has updated yet. I think I did more buying for myself than anyone else sadly enough.

Right now I'm updating from my new computer system. I made some modifications allowing me to have two monitors. Sweeeet... And I'm now running on Vista premium. SHOCK I know.. but I actually really like it although it's a big pain to try and run all my software from another location (but that's for the other blog).

So right now I'm trying to setup Firefox and Thunderbird AGAIN! The biggest pain is trying to get all my RSS subscriptions entered in again. I'm not sure if it worked or not so that's why I'm updating to find out.

ok enough tech.....

So I'm going to throw the invitation out there if you haven't heard about it already...
I came up with the idea that this year for new year's eve, instead of having a party, we should get together for a few hours of worship at the COTK office. I know that DA and I were planning on it and I've been meaning to ask AppleJacks since it is our thing. DA asked if we could have more people join us. I said I didn't see the harm in that so if you want to worship and interceed into 2008 you are welcome to join us. We'll talk about a time when we'll all meet. I know DA wants to go to another party for a bit so AppleJacks and I may start it off. IDK we'll see. Let me know if you want to come so I can keep you posted.

Ah, the Festivities

I was going to talk about one thing in particular, but as I just sat down, more things have come to mind. So, I'll write on all of them.

First off, I am now finished "Four Tickets To Christmas" musical. The shows were pretty good. I believe another rehearsal would have greatly benefited us but there wasn't enough time. Saturday's performance was perfect though. I was very happy and proud. My total time for working on the show was 29 hours. I'm glad I have a "life" again, now.

The second topic is derived from the title of this post. The "Festivities" being a synonym for "Holidays" which is now politically correct. I'm here to criticize the word "Holiday" because it shouldn't replace Christmas. There is a reason why we call it Christmas and that shouldn't be forgotten though it seems that it already has.

Third topic is about my feelings of Christmas. Today was my first official "Christmas Moment". Mom and Katie were baking cookies, snow was flying at 53 mph, I was wearing my slippers, doing my Christmas shopping online, and had that warm fuzzy feeling inside. Then tonight I had a thought that I thought I would share with you. One of my fondest memories of all my Christmas's is the enjoyment that I get not from the big present under the tree, but from the small ones. These are my favorite. The smaller the better because it is like a riddle or a thinking puzzle. It is a tradition that every year my aunt gets us some unique gift small enough to fit on our palms. It's moments like these that I feel are special. And I know it's not about the presents and I don't feel that it is. But I like it when families spend time together, keeping traditions alive, and making Christmas special.

Ornament

Saw that Mama Lilly did this and I did it too.

You Are a Bow

You don't think of it as the holiday season - you think of it as the present season!
What Christmas Ornament Are You?

(I don't think that this is true, I'm not greedy for presents)

My favorite question was:

4. What's your favorite thing about snow?
    • Snowball fights
    • Staying inside and having hot chocolate
    • Debuting your new snow outfit
    • Going for a drive to check out the holiday lights
    • Building a snowman
    • Skiing
Guess which one I chose!

Word of the year

The Mariem Webster dictionary has released the word of the year. I can't express it the way the article can. Here's what CNET said:

The Blasphemic Compass

I just read an article from TIME about 'The Golden Compass" and about the views of how the movie "'supposedly'" kills God. The book and film were written by non other than of course an atheist. But I find this absolutely ridiculously STUPID! Atheists do not believe that God exists. So how can an atheist kill God? How can you kill anything or anyone that doesn't exist?

In the movie, the friends of the little girl are referred to as daemons...

daemon

noun
1. an evil supernatural being [syn: devil]
2. a person who is part mortal and part god

WordNet® 3.0, © 2006 by Princeton University.

dae·mon (dē'mən)
n.
  1. Chiefly British Variant of demon.

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition

So once again, an atheist is obviously proving supernatural characters. Atheists do not believe in God or any god nor any deity. So by having supernatural demons, excuse me, daemons, it is just proving yourself wrong.

Next point - why would any human being want to be friends with a demon? Do you really want to call the Devil your friend? Do you want to be pals with Satan? The TIME article even says from the author "God is the villain of the piece, Satan the hero. And Lyra's on the side of the devils. As Pullman said to the Sydney Morning Post, "My books are about killing God."" Something should be instantly raised in your mind right here. Now I understand that not everybody is a Christian or even goes to church but there should be something morally wrong if you take interest in teaming with Satan.

In this article, it is also mentioned that some who see this movie do not have the mindset that the main intent is of killing God and so they do not see the spiritual battle behind that picture. But the subtle clues placed by the author should be a major hint at something that isn't right.

I know that we all do wrongs sometimes and we watch indecent movies and television shows but I don't believe anyone should go so far as to watch something so blasphemic and God-hating as 'The Golden Compass'.
