My Testimony from TheCall 2008
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 was a night that I will never forget. It was about 11:45 PM when I had just laid down to go to sleep. Somewhere around there, my roommate had made a comment how his shoulder had just spontaneously twitched. At that same instant, mine had done so too. This seemed a little eerie. I then felt the room begin to grow darker and something like a black cloud made its presence. I told my roommate, JD, that we needed to pray. We both sat up in bed and begin to break the spiritual forces that were there. We began casting out demons from the house and praying that blessings and peace from the Lord would take its place.
Two years ago, I had another experience with a spirit in this very room. It was the spirit of sexual temptation and immorality. I did not want that to come over my life again so JD began to pray over me that it would no longer exist.
We decided that we needed to wake up the other men in our group that were sleeping in another area of the house to come and join our intercession. The instant that the other two guys entered the room, both JD and myself began shivering and shaking like we were experiencing cold temperatures that not even an ice age could fathom. We continued to shatter demons and spirits with their grips of death wrapped around our necks and pray blessings over the home in which we were staying. Then, as God began to move, we began to repent of things that had taken place in our lives and prayed that God would start to move in our lives.
After about 15 or 20 minutes of this, we thought that our hearts we clear. The other guys went back to sleep, but I made a remark to my roommate that I just felt such a peace of God that the spirit was forced out. I said, "I wish that I could feel that peace too." I asked him if he would like to me pray over him or just wait until the morning since it was around midnight and we had to wake up early the next morning. He said that it could wait for another time but I said, "You can't wait with these things. If you wait, it is only going to get worse."
So once again we entered into intense prayer and I declared that the spirit of sexual immorality and temptations, "would be ripped out by the roots and never return." By this point, we began to break other chains in our lives. The chains of crude joking, the chains of impure thoughts, the chains of impure speech were all broken.
I believe that it has been over a year now since I have been praying for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and to receive the gift of Tongues. So somewhere around midnight on Thursday, August 14, AppleJacks (who we woke up a second time to come pray with us - God Bless him) and JD began praying over me for the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
I began pressing deeper and deeper into God that he would release it upon me. I could feel the power of God begin to fill the room as the other lifted their voices in Prayer Language. Soon my mouth began to go numb and soon it overtook my entire face. It traveled down my neck and into my arms. My trembling hands soon became heavy and I didn't have the strength to stand on my weakening legs. I was beginning to become overwhelmed with the present power that my body was just trembling before the Lord.
We then puts our arms around each other and continued to pray. JD said, "Just between me and Brice right now, God is giving you an embrace from Heaven." As JD put his arms around me, I felt such a power close in on my body. My body felt like it would fall like iron to the floor, but the arms of God were physically wrapped around me and I felt like a string puppet being suspended by His hand.
After close to an hour of praying for the baptism, we were approaching the one o'clock hour. JD and AppleJacks kept telling me to just open my mouth and God will move my lips. I knew I just had to speak what was on me heart but there was nothing there to let out. JD had looked over at the clock and actualy saw it change from 12:59 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. and said, "Brice, it is one o'clock and God is in this room and it is time that you are filled with Holy Spirit."
I felt something start to rise from my chest and into my mouth. The best was to descibe it is taht feeling like you are holding yourself back from throwing up - but this was a word. In that very instant - Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 1:00 a.m. I began to speak Tongues of the Holy Spirit. As I did, AppleJacks confirmed it, "Yep, you got it, that's it."
Keeping in mind that we were in the basement of a house with other sleeping guests upstair, we lifted an extremly quite shout of praise unto the Lord. The only thing I could do was lift my hands above me head and take as much effort as I had to clap without making any sound.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We went to the International Leadership Embassy conference at 6 p.m. on Thursday. During some intense worship, I was able to dip into the Holy Language about five times but only when I would begin to pray really fast. At this point, I could only say one syllable repeatedly. The next evening, during the second session of the Generating One conference, God began to teach me to say other words and He taught me how to pray in Tongues without first praying in English.
TheCall was on Saturday and I knew that it would be a life changing and spirit filling day. We arrived on the National Mall at 8:00 a.m. for the pre-worship service that led into TheCall. I began praying in Tongues and I couldn't stop until I fell asleep 16 hours later. TheCall was an intense 14 hour fast in which I was completly consumed with fire for the whole time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even on the van ride home - a 9 hour drive - I was still enfilled with the Holy Spirit and could not help but randomly break out into Tongues. I'll tell you what, it makes the trip go so much faster when you are in your own personal sanctuary while listening to contemporary Christian music on an MP3 player and praying in the Spirit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I still have not been able to fully withdraw from the Spirit but I say, "I don't want to lose this at all. I will not silence the Holy Spirit from speaking through me."
Once I got home from the trip I was chekcing all 40 of my emails when something came from God.tv. They had sent out a prayer request for one of their team members who had just suffered from marital seperation. Both him and his wife were in high positions at God.tv. Normally, like any other email, I would just think, 'oh that's sad and terrible' and I would delete the email and move on. But as I continued to read to small letter, I just began to speak out in Holy Tongues and I just lifted them up to God and asked Him to rebuild their marriage.
Now why am I telling all of you this? For the first time, God has increased my compassion for others and I believe He is beginning to reveal his plan for my life to me.
Another one happened when I was watching tv just a couple hours ago. An presidential candidacy ad for Barrack Obama came on and they were talking about all his plans that make him look like a good guy and I said out loud, "...but he doesn't care about the millions of murdered innocent souls that cannot cry out for themsleves" and I began to speak in Prayer Language again.
I believe that God is working on my heart to become a true prayer warrior for Him to show compassion and pray for those who are hurting and in need. I believe that God is going to begin giving me gifts of miracles and healing as I rise up and be an instrument that He would use.
Extraordinary Human Abilities
http://listverse.com/science/9-extraordinary-human-abilities/#comment-77889
I must say that I have a bit of synesthesia because sometimes I am ticklish by sound. I also carry somewhat of an absolute pitch because I can easily tell when a note is not in tune.
The Daniel Fast
He took it in for a second and said, and I quote, "Did they even have sweets back then? Oh, yeah they did. They had donuts." My first reaction was, 'you've been watching way too much vegetables', but he said to look it up in the book of Leviticus. Much to my surprise, he was actually correct. If you don't believe me, I'll even include the scripture below...
1 “When you bring a grain offering to the LORD, the offering must consist of choice flour. You are to pour olive oil on it and sprinkle it with incense.
(Skipping to verse 4)
4 “When you present some kind of baked bread as a grain offering, it must be made of choice flour mixed with olive oil but without any yeast. It may be presented in the form of cakes mixed with olive oil or wafers spread with olive oil. 5 If your grain offering is cooked on a griddle, it must be made of choice flour and olive oil, and it must contain no yeast. 6 Break it into pieces and pour oil on it; it is a kind of grain offering. 7 If your offering is prepared in a pan, it also must be made of choice flour and olive oil.
- Leviticus Chapter 2, New Living Translation
Nifty, eh?
BEWARE! - Be Aware
Nice intro, huh? Anywho, I discovered something about myself yesterday that kind of irked me, and it's my own flaw too. I realized I'm bossy - to an extent. Now we all appreciate being able to give orders to other people and be in charge of a group or whatnot but sometimes I act a little to much on impulse. Maybe it's the thing that I know that I can do a job more professionally than someone else, so I tend to tell them how to do it. At the time I would say that I'm giving you tips and helping you, but that's just the nice way of me saying, "You're doing it wrong!". I think this is something I need to work on.
Here's one that everyone will agree to...
I'm very cynical.
'Nough said...
Issue three is one of those that every employer hears that is rarely true: I take on too many responsibilities. For some odd reason it all goes beyond the whole thing of "just saying 'No'". No for me, it's the thing of "STOP VOLUNTEERING!" When someone needs help, I'll usually say, "Oh, I can do that for you." or "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of it". I think that has been happening alot lately. In one day alone, I had to take care of the following list between the times of 9:30 and 2:30 at school:
Fix the tricaster
Finish the Beauty and the Beast stuff
Burn a copy of "B&B"
return the DVD duplicator
give video DVD's to Mr. Nardecchia
Cleanup the TV Studio
Buy "The Cold War"
get my saxophone from the bandroom
fill out my A.P. Signup sheet and get it signed by the teacher
fill out my tablet project sheet
Cleanout my locker
take care of a teacher's old computer
delete old files off of 10 computers
burn a data DVD of my personal files at school to transport them home
cash checks at the bank
return some photos to another teacher after scanning them
capture, edit, and burn a movie for my science teacher.
cleanout the video storage room
run a video camera over to the EPAC
Think I did enough in four and a half hours?
This has been my self awareness lessen for the day.
Make your own "Debut Album"
1. Follow this link. Whatever the name is, that is the title of your band.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
2. Follow this link. Scroll to the bottom of the first page and read the LAST FOUR words of the LAST quote. This is the name of your album. (You don't have to use the punctuation.)
3. Follow this link to Flickr's last seven days page. Whatever the THIRD picture is on the page is you album cover.
Breaking a new era
Where does the time go? I know it has literally been FOREVER since my last update but life has been so recklessly hectic that it has been almost impossible to update. So the title actually affects several current life events. Where to begin... um... ah, yes...
Two Sunday's ago (May 18th) I died. Well.... it's more like I started a new life - that is, a new life in Christ. I was finally baptized in water and let me tell you that it has been pretty awesome! I can definitely tell that the Holy Spirit has definitely done some extreme makeover - heart edition. I've been feeling very refreshed.
Secondly, Last Sunday was my 17th birthday. I was kind of disappointed it wasn't something more spectacular but hey, I'm one year older all the same, right? So this is the 17th year "era" of my life.
Thirdly, I just got done setting everything up for college next year. I now have my own "BGNet" account to register classes and check email and what not. If anyone cares the school address is "briceh@bgsu.edu".
I'm hoping to update again before a new era comes round again. :-P
Life gets crazy and you realize you're growing up
Why is this significant? Because I realized that I'm growing up and my "adult" life is beginning now. Lately I've been upsessed with college and freaking out on how to start my own life. I have a great plan for what I want to do but I have no freaking idea on how I'm going to take care of everything. This is where a lot of faith is necessary that God will provide.
Where to begin.... Ah yes.....
I turned in my application for PSEOP (Post - Secondary Enrollment Option Program) which is just a fancy way to say that I'll start college as a senior in high school and it's free. The guidance counselor has done so much for me that a lot of the stress has been lifted off of me.
Then a couple days later, he comes and finds me and says, "I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse. Have you ever heard of boy's state?" Thanks to DA I have. I'm not that enthusiastic about it but when I got home from school my parents started freaking out and saying that it would be awesome for me to go and that it is a high and prestigious award. (I really had no idea.) So I'm thinking about doing it although that is just another thing to make mer nervous for summer! Whoopy!
After next year I'm planning to go to the college of my choice - Full Sail. I want to major in show production and touring. Something else to look forward to stressing out about. With a tuition of $46,000 (that's not a typo) it's going to be one huge financial burden placed on my shoulders. Plus not to mention how difficult it's going to be to start life as a college student in a completely different state where I won't know a single soul.
Sometime between now and that time, I really need to find a job - something else for me to juggle. FUN!
By the way - I have another "award" to add to my collection: I am now a member of the National Honor Society.
Single Awarness Day
All women require two things: time and money.
So Women = Time*Money
We know that time IS money, so...
Women = Money*Money
Women = Money2 (to the second power)
We know that money is the root of all evil so...
Women = sqrt(evil)2 (to the second power)
And thus, we are forced to conclude that...
Women = Evil
Q.E.D.
On the contrary, I had quite a pleasant afternoon with a.. um, let's just say a lady friend. It was sort of like a date but we just sat and talked. I could tell that we both really enjoyed it and were wishing that time would stand still. Somehow, I think we ended up promising that we would get together again. It's really weird because this time I don't have to do anything. Normally I always have to ask someone out but this time it is just happening naturally. Talk about sweet.
Dating vs. Courting
I know the difference between the two and I must say that I feel that I'm somewhere in the middle, honestly. I'm not one for just randomly dating people and I feel that you should really know someone by kinda courting them first. I used to play the game like everyone does in middle school, but then I became mature (well more mature anyway) and I now realize it doesn't and shouldn't work like that.
So I've been doing a completely different approach. I decided to lean more towards courting. I've actually been praying about a future relationship for quite awhile, and it hasn't been over a specific person. I left that detail (which is rather a large detail) up to God. I've just been praying for the right door to open and that he would lead me. I think God's timing is perfect and awesome and I believe things may be falling into place. Who knows? Well, God does.
Now to the members of Remain - I don't need preached to about making the "right decisions". I've heard that sermon from DA a few times. I'm not even saying anything at all and wha d'ya know? Everything is just happening itself.
So that's life for now. I hope your V-Day was 'ight'.
And so, Life Begins
Pros:
Free college courses
advanced classes
huge selection of classes
get both high school and college credit
Cons:
More schooling time (credit hours)
Way more difficult homework
A lot more homework
A more busy schedule
Giving up some extra curricular activities
I think it is all balanced. Not to mention I'm pretty nervous about it all considering I have no idea what I'm doing. I mean this is college we're talking about. There's no one there to tell you where room 5209 is. They don't lead you by the hand anymore and I understand that but that's the part that makes me nervous. But that's life and sometime or another everyone will hit that point.
On a different note - I called BestBuy today to do a followup call for my application. They said that they would give my name and number to the people in charge of apps and they would call me back. So I'll be waiting on that. I'm not quite as afraid of working because I've had a couple jobs already. I'm actually anxious to go to work in a geeky environment. I think I will fit in quite nicely (***please, no need to comment on this statement). I need something to keep me occupied as if school next year isn't going to be enough.
Topic three - performances (in general). On Monday, I get out of two periods for the fun of follow spotting some guy giving a presentation. Whatever...
After that I have the GALA
Then I start Musical which will run until the middle of March. Here comes the fun!
I think that's all for now, I will probably end up posting some sort of schedule on here maybe.
You won't want to miss this!
...
... I FOUND THE CURE FOR HICCUPS!!!
so we all have that embarrasing issue from time to time right? Well when I get a case of the hiccups, they are usually very severe and can last up to 45 minutes. I'm not exaggerating by any means! I had a bad case last night. I was about to go to bed and I couldn't stop. It was driving me insane. I went down into the kitchen to see what I could conjure up to make the torture cease when that's when it happened. I FOUND THE CURE!!!
You probably want to know what it is don't you?
well fine...
If you take about 1/4 - 1/2 glass of warm (room temperature) ginger ale and chug it, it takes your hiccups away pretty much instantly. I think you might have to hold your breathe too. I can't recall for sure. Usually we hold our breathe when we drink anyway. They say that warm water will work too but I think that the carbonation helps.
It's amazing how effective prayer is
Well God answers prayers really quickly. As soon as I got home that afternoon I had to run and make a house call to fix someone's computer. While I was there I ended up getting another job to do. I told the lady how much she owed me but she didn't have the right amount so she gave me more than what I asked. I think that's a blessing. So I got more than what I wanted plus another computer job too!
There's only one more thing that I'm praying for that will help out financially and that is a real working job. On the way home on Sunday, I stopped in at ABC Warehouse and picked up an application. I'm hoping that I'll get hired there because they do have a computer section. I think that Best Buy would be better but I'll take what I can.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Right now I'm updating from my new computer system. I made some modifications allowing me to have two monitors. Sweeeet... And I'm now running on Vista premium. SHOCK I know.. but I actually really like it although it's a big pain to try and run all my software from another location (but that's for the other blog).
So right now I'm trying to setup Firefox and Thunderbird AGAIN! The biggest pain is trying to get all my RSS subscriptions entered in again. I'm not sure if it worked or not so that's why I'm updating to find out.
ok enough tech.....
So I'm going to throw the invitation out there if you haven't heard about it already...
I came up with the idea that this year for new year's eve, instead of having a party, we should get together for a few hours of worship at the COTK office. I know that DA and I were planning on it and I've been meaning to ask AppleJacks since it is our thing. DA asked if we could have more people join us. I said I didn't see the harm in that so if you want to worship and interceed into 2008 you are welcome to join us. We'll talk about a time when we'll all meet. I know DA wants to go to another party for a bit so AppleJacks and I may start it off. IDK we'll see. Let me know if you want to come so I can keep you posted.
Ah, the Festivities
First off, I am now finished "Four Tickets To Christmas" musical. The shows were pretty good. I believe another rehearsal would have greatly benefited us but there wasn't enough time. Saturday's performance was perfect though. I was very happy and proud. My total time for working on the show was 29 hours. I'm glad I have a "life" again, now.
The second topic is derived from the title of this post. The "Festivities" being a synonym for "Holidays" which is now politically correct. I'm here to criticize the word "Holiday" because it shouldn't replace Christmas. There is a reason why we call it Christmas and that shouldn't be forgotten though it seems that it already has.
Third topic is about my feelings of Christmas. Today was my first official "Christmas Moment". Mom and Katie were baking cookies, snow was flying at 53 mph, I was wearing my slippers, doing my Christmas shopping online, and had that warm fuzzy feeling inside. Then tonight I had a thought that I thought I would share with you. One of my fondest memories of all my Christmas's is the enjoyment that I get not from the big present under the tree, but from the small ones. These are my favorite. The smaller the better because it is like a riddle or a thinking puzzle. It is a tradition that every year my aunt gets us some unique gift small enough to fit on our palms. It's moments like these that I feel are special. And I know it's not about the presents and I don't feel that it is. But I like it when families spend time together, keeping traditions alive, and making Christmas special.
| You Are a Bow |
![]() You don't think of it as the holiday season - you think of it as the present season! |
My favorite question was:
4. What's your favorite thing about snow?
- Snowball fights
- Staying inside and having hot chocolate
- Debuting your new snow outfit
- Going for a drive to check out the holiday lights
- Building a snowman
- Skiing
Is nothing sacred any more?
Here's a quick review of my life...
Teusday - get out of school. Go home and eat dinner. Mom ends up in the hospital.
Wednesday - I do nothing all day long.
Thursday - Thanksgiving. Everyone is together except Brad, Katie, and Mom.
Friday - more like Black Friday... I got the pleasure of working at Shoe Carnival for 9 hours. That was fun. Thank goodness it was from 1 till 10. Mom came home today.
Saturday - Slept a lot
Sunday - Church and then more nothingness.
